“The New Zealand Human Rights Commission has been working with an approach that builds sustainable human rights capacity in communities most vulnerable to human rights violations. The approach is influenced by human rights, community development and participatory action research practices. It is a political process where community members are the key actors in the human rights issues which affect their lives. it is “nothing about us without us”
This article overviews the approach happening within the New Zealand human rights Commission (NZHRC), and using current case studies from Aotearoa and the Philippines, gives expression to it.”
